"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. FYI Body: It's time again for an update on the Army's Foreign Language Advocacy
Program.

We are still offering Russian, Korean and Arabic as gauranteed languages
for those who qualify.

We are almost out of Chinese Mandarin slots so we cannot gaurantee tha
language.

All other languages are on a case by case basis

What we offer: Up to 65K in student loan repaymen
Free education in a foreign language at the
Defense Language Institute
Regular paycheck plus room and board
A security clearance and training in a Military
Intelligence Speciality
Cash enlistment up to 12k
What we want: US Citizens only
17-34 years old
A 4 year commitment as a soldier

What we don't want: People to teach languages
Felons
People who can't handle up to 63weeks of intensive language study.
