Dr. Catherine N. Ball has joined the U. S. National Science Foundation as Program Director for Linguistics. Dr. Ball is on leave from Georgetown University, where she most recently served as Chair of the Linguistics Department. Dr. Paul G. Chapin, the former Program Director, remains at NSF, where he is undertaking a new set of responsibilities related to interdisciplinary activities and NSF-wide initiatives and competitions.
