Jost Gippert: Our Featured Linguist!

"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. FYI: API Access to Twitter SRS Trend Data

Author: Clayton Darwin

Linguistic Field(s): Computational Linguistics
Discourse Analysis
Text/Corpus Linguistics

FYI Body: All,

I've just set up an API that allows everyone access to frequency and
trending data extracted from our Twitter Stratified Random Sample
(see http://illocutioninc.com/Research). The data is updated every 6
hours, so the API is always delivering current stats.

The link below will take you to a page with explanations and a demo
app that will allow you to test and see what is returned. This is really
the best way to stay up-to-date on the Twitter Lexicon and trends
(better than the Lexicon download), and it is a fantastic way to add
linguistically-principled trend data to your web site. Enjoy.
