Meeting Description:

Summer school in Language contact and language acquisition. The summer school itself will take place from 1-4 August 2005. On 5 August there will be a workshop in conjunction with the summer school. Students are encouraged to present a short paper during the workshop.

Carol Myers-Scotton, University of South Carolina (USA)
Kenneth Hyltenstam, University of Stockholm (Sweden)
Ann Bradlow, Northwestern University (USA)
Yan-Kit Ingrid Leung, University of Essex (UK)

The lecturers will discuss language contact and language acquisition from
different theoretical perspectives (i.e. both UG-based and non UG-based
theoretical frameworks) and in various linguistic fields (phonetics/phonology, morphology/syntax, sociolinguistics). Naturally, second language acquisition will be a central topic, given that it involves language acquisition in contact situations. A full program will be announced later.

There is no fee.
Participants must find accommodation themselves, but the organizers will try to help in case of problems.
