"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. FYI Body: We are pleased to announce the second volume of Normas, Revista de Estudios Lingüísticos Hispánicos, a free access electronic journal that aims at publishing original, high-quality research on current issues of Spanish as a pluri-centric language. Normas invites submissions that focus on pan-Hispanic approaches to Modern Spanish from any theoretical or methodological approach (sociolinguistics, pragmatics, discourse analysis, teaching Spanish as a second language, etc.)

The articles published in Normas are selected through a peer review, double-blind evaluation process. The language of publication is Spanish. Currently Normas publishes one volume per year.
