Second call for proposals

Travel grants for short visits and bilateral preparatory actions

NetWordS invites proposals for travel grants (up to 15 days) for so-called short visits and bilateral preparatory actions, to support collaborative research in Europe on the mental lexicon.

The short visits program is primarily addressed towards researchers (PhD students, post-docs, research fellows) that are keen to pursue interdisciplinary collaborative work by visiting investigators with a different disciplinary background from their own and in a different country, profiting from his/her expertise and from the research facilities available at the host institution. Visits should be aimed at developing joint work that combines methods and insights from two different fields.

Reimbursement of travel expenses will be administered through the ESF. Short Visit Grants cover actual travel expenses up to a maximum of 500 EUR per participating site, plus a per diem of 85 EUR.

Applications should include the following items:

- a description of the project work (about 500 words) and the aim of the visit
- short CV of applicant (max 1000 words), including a list of relevant publications (max 5)
- researcher(s) involved and the research institution to be visited
- proposed dates and estimated travel costs*

Up to 20 grants will be available.

* Bilateral preparatory actions are intended to promote intensive collaborative work between two research teams in different countries and with different scientific backgrounds, with a view to finalising European interdisciplinary project proposals to be submitted in the years 2013-2014.

Priority will be given to those proposals that are shown to be connected with other preparatory actions, thus being part of a larger European project effort. Bilateral preparatory actions need to involve at least two researchers from research institutions/laboratories that are already connected through NetWordS.

Reimbursement of travel expenses will be administered through the ESF. Bilateral Grants cover actual travel expenses up to a maximum of 500 EUR per participating site, plus a per diem of 85 EUR.

Applications should include the following items:

- a description of the project work (about 500 words) and the aim of the visit
- short CV of applicants from the two teams involved (max 1000 words), including a list of relevant publications (max 5)
- proposed meeting dates and estimated travel costs*

About 8 bilateral projects will be granted.

Applications to either program should be submitted at www.networds-esf.eu through the Call page.

Deadline for applications: February 15th 2013, h 17:00 (CET)

Notification of results: by mid-March 2013

A selection of successful applicants will be invited to present their projects at the 3rd NetWordS Workshop, that will be held in Dubrovnik, 19-20 September 2013. Separate funds will be made available to provide partial financial support to attending grantees.

Eligibility

Following the ESF guidelines*, preference will be given to projects involving researchers from countries with ESF member organisations contributing to this networking program, but proposals involving a non-contributing country will also be considered. A list of the contributing countries is available at www.networds-esf.eu

Due to budget constraints, upon receiving notification of acceptance of their proposal, applicants could be invited to curtail duration of their visits.
