Dear all, Akshan Taak, is a Jamaican Language company (JLC) production done in association with the Jamaican Language Unit (http://www.mona.uwi.edu/dllp/jlu/index.htm). It is a news commentary program done solely in Jamaican (More commonly referred to as Patwa or Jamaican Creole), which reports on how the media covers the news relevant to Jamaica and Jamaicans in general. Subtitles are also written in the standardized writing system for Jamaican. This is the modified Cassidy, LePage writing system for Jamaican Creole. Do enjoy, subscribe and spread the word. For episodes of Akshan Taak please go to YouTube and type in 'Akshan Taak'. For more information on JLC, please visit http://www.mona.uwi.edu/dllp/jlu/index.htm Respectfully, Andre Sherriah PhD Candidate Linguistic University of the West Indies (Mona) |
