Media: Researchers posit a new 'text message written register'

The Montreal Gazette reports that researchers at Simon Fraser University have sent out a 'call for text messages'. They have set up a site where you can find information about donating texts. They are looking to find evidence for their hypothesis that 'people who use [text message] short-cuts and abbreviations aren't just lazy'. Instead, 'They are being very creative and efficient at communicating, using novel forms of communications.'
