Ask-A-Linguist Message Details

Subject: Literature/drama and linguistics
Question: Hello, I am a PhD student and I am currently working on Harold Pinter's dramatic discourse and the relevance of irony in his plays. I intend to analyse the choosen plays linguistically and pragmatically (chosing a linguistic theory and framework). I would be more than pleased to help me choose the most applicable theory for such a delicate topic. Thanks in advance!
Reply: I suggest that you start with the work of Ann Banfield.
