Ask-A-Linguist Message Details
|Subject:||Money-Maker in Linguistics|
Which specialization within the Linguistics field currently holds the
most promise for obtaining employment? Which specialization would
prospectively make the highest income?
Currently I teach ESL, but I'm not addicted to it ... I think I could go
in any linguistics direction.
Thank you very much!
I'm going to guess computational linguistics because you can work for Google,
Facebook and many other vendors. Some work involves better search engine
algorithms or better intelligent help systems. However some of the work involves
"marketing research" (better ads on Gmail based on your notes).
I have to say though that most of us are in the field for the love, not the money.
