Meeting Description:	The international conference ‘Genre Variations/Standardization and Popularization: Natural Sciences, Law and Commerce’ will take place at the University of Palermo, Italy, 25-27 October 2012. General Information: An international conference organized within the framework of the PRIN 2008 Project ‘The Popularization of Scientific Discourse in a Diachronic Perspective’, partly funded by the Ministry of Education, University and Scientific Research, will be hosted by the Palermo Unit, Dipartimento DIPLI, Palazzo Chiaramonte Steri, 25-27 October 2012. Main Objective of the Conference: The main objective of the conference is to provide a platform for sharing views on the subject of generic variation and/or standardization in texts disseminating scientific knowledge in the domains of natural sciences, law and commerce. For the plenary lectures the following keynote speakers have accepted our invitation: Vijay Bhatia (City University of Hong Kong) Peter Kastberg (Aarhus University) Gunther Kress (Institute of Education, University of London)
