"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. 3rd International Conference on Teaching and Learning Speaking in a Foreign Language


The conference will be devoted to various aspects of developing speaking skills in the foreign language classroom, as viewed from both a psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic perspective. It will be organized by the Institute of Modern Languages, State School of Higher Professional Education, Konin, Poland, and the Department of English Studies, Faculty of Pedagogy and Fine Arts, Adam Mickiewicz University, Kalisz, Poland. The languages of the conference will be English and Polish, with all the plenary talks being given in the former.

The venue for the event will be the Conference Center of State School of Higher Professional Education in Konin, Poland at Popiełuszki 4 St. where all the plenary and parallel sessions will be held, and meals and refreshments will be served.
