Meeting Description: The conference aims to encourage discussions between linguists, philosophers, and cognitive scientists on the notion of referentiality. The central focus is centered in syntactic-semantic issues related to the nominal system with the aim of understanding the role of nominal modification in the licensing and interpretation of certain syntactic/semantic structures.

Questions to be addressed include but are not limited to:

Nominal modification is understood broadly including plural suffixation, modification by adjectives, prepositional complements and relative clauses. In this conference we want to understand the effects of modification in the licensing and blocking of certain nominal phrase, and the contrasts of acceptability.

We can summarize the issues as follows:

- The effects of modification in the licensing and blocking of certain nominal phrases
- The role of referentiality features of noun phrases
- Nominal modification and contrasts of acceptability that show up in free choice constructions, with bare noun phrases, in the bare predication, and with the weak and generic definite phrases
