Meeting Description: How do speakers of different languages perceive and talk about space and motion?

This is one of the hottest research topics in linguistics nowadays. Different studies from a wide variety of theoretical and applied frameworks investigate not only how speakers (native or learners) describe space and motion in their own languages but also which kind of cognitive mechanisms take part in their conceptualization. This workshop brings together specialists in the field of space and motion research and offers an overview of current research in this area with a special focus on semantic typology and its application to language acquisition and translation.
Linguistic Subfield: Cognitive Science; Language Acquisition; Semantics; Translation
