"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Meeting Description: The conference is organized by Ulyanovsk State Teacher Training University, Foreign Languages Department. The conference is an annual gathering of young linguists including undergraduate and graduate students, as well as teachers and research workers under 35.

Its main goals are:

- to promote the exchange of ideas and research results among students of language, literature and language education worldwide;
- to encourage students of all levels to get involved in research;
- to help strengthening the networks between educational institutions to the benefit of a better education for all.
