"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. The 8th TOTh International Conference will be held on Thursday and Friday, 12-13 June 2014 at the University of Savoie (in Chambéry, France) with the support of the French Ministry of Culture (DGLFLF) and of the European Association for Terminology.

The TOTh Conferences - Terminology & Ontology: Theories and applications - bring together researchers, professionals and, more generally, all persons interested in issues related to language and knowledge engineering.

The program will include accepted communications, a guest lecture, a disputatio, and a poster session.

A one and a half day training session (in French) on text analysis for onomasiological purposes will be held just before the conference on Tuesday and Wednesday, 10-11 June.
