"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Meeting Description: The 10th LESLLA conference aims at crossing borders and framing LESLLA by exploring innovative techniques or approaches for research on cognition, literacy and second language learning, advanced technologies for adult language and literacy education and policy approaches to low-educated immigrants and LESLLA learners.

The program will include theoretical and practice-based presentations (30 min.), workshops (60 min.) and posters and will feature a multimedia exhibition where participants can present their products, give show & tell demonstrations and where attendees can try out their favorite programs. The exhibition will be concluded by a panel discussion in which the products presented will be evaluated.
