"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. This conference will draw together experts on dyslexia and other learning disabilities and share information and practice of assessment, diagnosis, intervention, teaching-learning and support services for affected students and other individuals. The objectives of the conference are to draw attention to specific learning disabilities, to promote research work on these disabilities among postgraduate students, academicians and health professionals as well as to bring together experts from both abroad and locally on a common platform to discuss these disabilities and their associated issues.
