NYI is an interdisciplinary institute held every July in St. Petersburg, Russia, open to advanced undergraduate and graduate students interested in comparative and formal approaches to linguistics, psychology as well as a range of topics in cultural and comparative studies.
The following linguistics and psychology faculty will offer 3-week seminars this July in St. Petersburg: John F. Bailyn (Stony Brook) Language, Music and the Mind Thomas G. Bever (University of Arizona) Language Universals Rajesh Bhatt (UMass, Amherst) Syntactic Theory: An advanced introduction Roumyana Pancheva (USC) Syntax/Semantics of Comparatives James Hurford (University of Edinburgh) Origins and Evolution of Language Sabine Iatridou (MIT) How to Construct a Theory (Advanced!)
