Meeting Description:	1st Maryland International Conference on Chinese as a Second Language The Ph.D. Program in Second Language Acquisition and the Confucius Institute at the University of Maryland will host its first international conference on Chinese as a second language (CSL) on November 11 and November 12, 2012 on its College Park campus. The past decade has witnessed a rapid growth in the learning and teaching of Chinese as a second language around the globe. Set in this context, this conference is intended as a forum for scholars and teachers to share their research ideas and findings, discuss experiences and strategies of effective CSL teaching, and explore issues of importance toward a better understanding of linguistic, psycholinguistic, and socio-cultural processes involved in CSL learning and teaching.
