Linearization Workshop (DGfS 2010)

Conference URL: http://user.uni-frankfurt.de/~kremers/DGfS-Linearization.html

In current minimalist thinking, syntactic representations are strictly hierarchical and do not contain any information on the linear order of terminal elements. Such an assumption obviously raises a number of questions, which this workshop aims to address, including (but not limited to) arguments for and against the hypothesis (both theoretical and empirical), the linearization process itself (e.g., LCA-based, head/ directionality parameters; as a syntactic or a phonological process), and issues regarding the co-realization of meaningful elements, e.g. so-called simultaneity in sign languages.
