In its 40th year of existence, the Society for Caribbean Linguistics (SCL) will host its 19th biennial conference in Nassau, the Bahamas, from Monday 30 July to Friday 3 August 2012. The Conference theme is Linguistic Diversity, Identity and Structure(s) in the Caribbean: Assessing the Past and Planning for the Future. Abstracts on all types of Caribbean languages are invited. Caribbean languages include signed and spoken languages: Amerindian, creole, standardised, official, national, non-standardised, immigrant, heritage, endangered, religious and ritual language varieties. Abstracts with a focus on Bahamian languages and situations, pertaining to any sub-discipline of linguistics, are especially invited. N.B. Abstracts on non-Caribbean language varieties can only be considered if the proposed title, abstract and paper compare or contrast such a variety with a Caribbean language or language situation.
