Research in Teacher Education: What, How, And Why?



Educating qualified and competent teachers to ensure professionalism is very important to increase the quality of teaching and ensure a lifelong teaching career. One important aspect of professional development is research. Through research teachers can share ideas, exchange innovative teaching methods as well as developing reflection. The Faculty of Language and Literature in cooperation with Language Training Centre of Satya Wacana Christian University is organizing the 2012 International Seminar, to be held on 21-22 November 2012, with the theme ‘Research in Teacher Education: What, How, And Why?' The purpose is to share ideas and findings in order to improve the quality of teachers, especially language teachers. Scholars, teachers, professionals, and others interested in language teacher education research are encouraged to send your abstract and paper on the following areas: (1) Action Research and Teacher Education, (2) The role of narrative research in teacher education, (3) Research in pre-service education,(4) The contribution of critical pedagogy to teacher education program, (5) Teacher professional development, and (6) The role of culture in teacher education. Confirmed speakers are: Prof. Anne Burns (Macquarie University Sydney, Australia)& Dr. Willy Renandya (National Institute of Education, Singapore)
