Shadows of Truth: Hidden Identities, Surveillance, Lies

Conference URL: http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/gsc14

The truth is overrated. Subjective, culturally biased, it reflects an individual’s attempt to describe one’s own reality. We call to mind the tale of the elephant, wherein three distinct renditions of this animal are suggested according to the possibilities and limitations of the different perceivers. Each religion provides its own version of spiritual truth, often contradicting the interpretations of other religions. Even science, once thought to be the ultimate expression of truth, is constantly challenging and updating previous versions of what had been accepted as the truth.
