Conference URL: https://sites.google.com/site/multilingualinstitutioncontext/

The 3rd Annual UCLA Department of Applied Linguistics Public Conference on 'Multilingualism in Institutional Contexts' seeks to engage diverse audiences with a set of thought-provoking presenters and panelists discussing language-based research, professional experiences, and personal testimonials related to the issue of multilingualism in institutional settings, including legal, medical, political, business, and educational contexts.

The 2-day conference will have a host of presenters and 2 invited panels, in addition to 4 plenary speakers. The first day will focus on issues in California/US and the second will focus on resonant themes in the international context. Drs. Django Paris (Department of Teacher Education, Michigan State University), Alastair Pennycook (Department of Language Studies, University of Technology, Sydney), Yasir Suleiman(Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, University of Cambridge), and Guadalupe Valdes (Department of Education, Stanford University) have all expressed interest in being plenary speakers for the conference.

We welcome abstract submissions on issues of multilingualism in institutional contexts, whether addressed through critical applied linguistics or another, related methodology. These contexts may be local, regional, national, or international.
