International Workshop on Bilingualism and Cognitive Control

Conference URL:

An emerging body of literature has documented both bilingual language coactivation and a bilingual advantage to domain-general cognitive tasks of executive function. It is tempting to conclude that these two discoveries are directly linked and that the resolution of cross-language competition causes bilinguals to be advantaged on tasks requiring cognitive control. The aim of this workshop is to bring together language scientists from both cognitive and neurocognitive perspectives to develop a research agenda that will begin to move the field beyond correlational observations to provide a causal account of the way language experience and language learning impact cognition and its neural basis.
