Symposium on Spanish as a Heritage Language

The Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures at Texas Tech University cordially invites submissions for 20 minute presentations to its inaugural Symposium on Spanish as a Heritage Language to be held on February 21-22, 2014. We hope to receive submissions (in Spanish or English) from researchers, teachers, and students representing all viewpoints and subfields of study to share, discuss, and explore both theoretical and practical knowledge in the area of Spanish Heritage Speaker Bilingualism.

We are proud to announce the participation of the following Plenary Speakers:

-Dr. Martha Fairclough, University of Houston
-Dr. Kim Potowski, University of Illinois at Chicago

Concurrent with the conference on Saturday, we will host a workshop that aims to explore best and most effective practices on teaching Spanish to heritage language learners. The main goal of this workshop is to provide the participants with the tools to foster and encourage social, linguistic and cultural diversity.

**Student presenters will be eligible for consideration for a presentation award ($ 200)**
