Speculative Grammarian

Speculative Grammarian is the premier scholarly journal featuring research in the neglected field of satirical linguistics. They have recently completed their transition from the real world to online: they have finally finished digitizing the tattered remains of their once glorious Archive, re-publishing each issue on the internet.

Their new mission is two-fold:

  1. First, they will continue to publish the best works of satirical linguistics available anywhere--so they are, of course, looking for submissions for upcoming issues of SpecGram.

  2. Second, they seek to transform other satirical linguistics resources from their current dead-tree-format to a more readily disseminated bit-based format. SpecGram's current project is the conversion of the anthologies Lingua Pranca and Son of Lingua Pranca

Speculative Grammarian has generously offered the following prizes:

  • 2 SpecGram T-shirts

  • 2 SpecGram stickers or magnets

Note: These items are printed on demand, so the winners can choose what design (and for t-shirts, which color) they like best from the website: http://www.specgram.com/merch/.

In addition to this great merchandise, Speculative Grammarian is also offering:

  • Two Guest Editorships/Issue Dedications, one for the July 2006 issue (CLI.3) and one for the October 2006 issue (CLI.4)! The winners will have the chance to either be a guest editor of an issue of SpecGram, or to dedicate an issue to someone else.
