Brief Description : This language was spoken in the Middle Indic period, and figures prominently in the literature of the Jains, and is used to write their scriptures. The Oriya languages are descended from this language. Though probably spoken from circa 600 BC to 100 AD, most works in the language can be dated much later, in the 5th century AD.
