Brief Description : The first clearly Old Kannada inscription is the the Halmidi inscription, which dates from around 450 AD, though fragments of the language are found earlier. Literary works date only from the 9th century AD when the Kavirajamarga appears. This was written in 850 CE by King Amoghavarsha, and is a treatise on Kannada poetry and the Kannada language. 450-1200 AD.
