Dear LINGUIST List Subscribers, I came The LINGUIST List in January 2007 from Poland and become a grad linguistics student at Eastern Michigan University. It has been a great time! With classes and work it is linguistics 24/7. I have to admit that working for the LL is challenging and demanding. At the same time, however, it is extremely satisfying. Even though I have been here for two years already, I still do not know everything about the LL - it is a truly great enterprise offering a number of services to the linguistics community. One of the projects that I have been involved in and I am very excited about is the GOLDCommunity (General Ontology for Linguistic description) project. Currently, we are in the process of developing GOLDComm pages. Among other things, on the pages users will be able to share their projects that utilize the GOLD Ontology. I am also in charge of the Student Portal, which is a new module that we are about to release. Its aim is to help undergrad and grad students find information about linguistics, doing their own research and becoming successful linguistics students. This project is interesting to work on as we hope it is going to help a number of students around the world become passionate about the field. I feel very lucky to be here. Being part of the LL has given me the opportunity to meet and work with great people, both GAs and programmers, on a few interesting projects. None of this would be possible without your support. Let me also stress that LL would not be what it is to the linguistics community without you. Thanks to you, we, the students, can complete our degrees and continue to serve the community.
