Royal Oak is actually home to the Detroit Zoo. The Detroit Zoo was actually the first zoo in America to use cageless exhibits.
The Main Art Theater opened in the 1940's and continues to be a popular location to see films. It specializes in indie, foreign, and documentary films.
The Royal Oak Music Theater opened in 1928. It's a great place to see a concert or a comedy show.
Downtown Royal Oak is full of great restaurants. One of my favorites is Memphis Smoke. It's a great place to have some great BBQ and listen to some wicked Blues bands.
It's a great city. Come visit sometime!

Some of my pictures and information are from the city's website. Have a look!
