Software Development
ILIT has created special software as part of its E-MELD Project for digitizing and archiving language data. These are especially important for field linguists interested in preserving their language data for long term community accessibility. The following two tools may be found under its School of Best Practice's Toolroom area.
CharWrite is a web-based unicode input facility that allows users to easily insert IPA characters from a small set of visually similar multinational characters to create web pages.
FIELD is a web-based tool that enables field linguists to insert their language data into a fully searchable online database. FIELD has been developed specifically for entry of lexical data into best practice format; it is Unicode-compliant, and has the ability to output the data as an XML document.
