Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. There are opportunities for a full-time role after the internship so what’s there to think about?!

1. Work alongside the in-house team, Linguistic Development vendors and Natural Language Group in Redmond to drive the quality of NL features and extend our suite of tools into more languages

2. Become proficient with Microsoft’s linguistic development process and suite of tools

3. Work on the next wave of new features that are being considered for future releases of Microsoft Office

Requirements:

1. Current student of linguistics, computational linguistics or computer science which includes natural language processing

2. Good communication skills are a must, both written and verbal

3. Good programming skills. Some knowledge of any of the following languages: C#, Java, Visual Basic.Net or C++

4. Fluency of a foreign language would be advantageous but not essential

5. Knowledge of machine learning techniques would be advantageous but not essential

The standard duration is 12 months but shorter time periods can also be considered.
