This is a dictionary originally produced by Franciscan missionaries on behalf
of the Colegio de Propaganda Fide del Per (Fide School of Advertising of Peru)
in 1905. It was, and still is, a multilingual dictionary with primary entries
in Spanish followed by the Quechua and Aymara entries. The principal
contribution of the present revision, coordinated by Dr. Cerrn-Palomino, lies
in the modernization of some of the lexicon, as well as the addition of some
new Quechua and Aymara terms and the standardization of the orthography used,
according to the official Pan-Quechua alphabet approved in 1983. The entries
appear in the following dialects, in the order indicated: Spanish, Cuzco
Quechua, Ayacucho Quechua, Junn Quechua, Ancash Quechua and Aymara. This the
only dictionary of its kind that compiles a lexicon in a variety of dialects
and languages in a single volume, and presents them all simultaneously on the
same page, facilitating comparisons among dialects.
