Hi, WordNet has become an important resource in NLP, but what about other thesauruses, say Roget's Thesaurus? I would like any information pertaining to research that have used thesauruses other than WordNet. Thanks in advance, - Mario Jarmasz (mjarmaszMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issuesite.uottawa.ca) School of Information Technology and Engineering, University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Canada
Does anybody know about studies relating the grammatical competence of L2 learners to the size of their L2 lexicon? That is, I'm looking for the kind of study that would claim "a learner who knows X target language words knows this much target language grammar, whereas someone who knows 2X words knows that much grammar". As someone outside the SLA field, it seems to me like somebody must have made claims of this sort, but SLA people I have talked to have been unable to supply me with references.
