UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN Applications are invited for the position of Director of the English Language Institute (5-year term, renewable) with tenure at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor in the Program in Linguistics. The ELI is an independent academic unit within the College of Literature, Science and Arts. Its main mission is to provide courses in English as a Second Language and English for Academic Purposes for international students enrolled at the Ann Arbor Campus, and to conduct research and development relevant to that mission. We seek outstanding applicants with established teaching and research expertise in English for Academic Purposes and with the capacity to provide the institute with creative leadership in both its teaching and testing divisions. Further specialization is sought in one or more subdisciplines in linguistics, including discourse analysis, second language acquisition, applied phonetics, sociolinguistics or psycholinguistics.
