Director of Ontologies

Responsibilities / Qualities
Develop and implement schema for classifying and describing items across
multiple domains.
Develop automatic classification methods and play the lead role.
Work with SME's in over 50 industries.
Work with domain experts inside the company.
Hire and manage a small group of Ontologists.
Establish yourself as the company "Expert"
With system engineers, leverage ontology work performed.
Establish ontology "maintenance" procedures.
Create a team environment in Ontology group with a "get it done"
attitude.
Work under tight deadlines.
Be open to new ways of thinking.
Possess knowledge base of industry available tools.
Applicable area of expertise.
Able to interface and deal with a wide variety of people.
Goal driven.

You offer:

A proven track record developing timely and usable solutions to complex
problems
2+ years experience building ontologies for commercial use
Ability to lead a team and a company to implement and improve schema.
Experience building ontologies and knowledge representation systems.
Software development experience
Experience in eCommerce
Effective oral and written communication.

Required:

Ph.D. or Masters in Linguistics or equivalent experience.
2+ years experience as an ontologist.
Knowledge of computational classification methodologies.
Ability to lead and work with a team.

The Department of French seeks to appoint a lecturer with an 
established research record in the area of French linguistics. Native 
or near-native ability in French is required.

The appointment will be at Lecturer A/B level, salary in the range 
stlg19,372 to stlg32,199, and tenable from 1st January 2000. Interviews
