ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF SPANISH (Tenure track, to begin Fall, 2000) Ph.D. required. Specialization in Applied Lingustics, Foreign Language Methodology and/or Instructional Technology. Native or near native fluency in Spanish and demonstrated excellence in language teaching. Beginning, intermediate and advanced language courses and courses in language teaching methodology for a dynamic undergraduate program. Coordination of language courses, participation in planning for the development of a multi-media language learning center, and work with public schools on professional development of language teachers. Rutgers-Newark is an AAU research university, located twenty minutes from Manhattan. The campus has a large immigrant population and is ranked the most diverse in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. We seek someone eager to develop heritage language study. Colleagues will participate, in conjunction with other programs across the University, in a process of debate and rebuilding the humanities and social sciences that involves critical and theoretical responses to the challenges of the contemporary academy.
