Colleagues will participate, in conjunction with other programs across the University, in a process of debate and rebuilding the humanities and social sciences that involves critical and theoretical responses to the challenges of the contemporary academy. Fall 2000, pending administrative approval, one or more positions, Spanish linguistics, Assistant or Associate Professor. Preferred fields: Bilingualism, US Spanish, or some area of sociolinguistics. Ideal candidates will have an established research profile, teaching experience at both graduate and undergraduate levels, native or near-native command of Spanish. PGS offers a range of degree programs,including the M.Div., M.A.s in Theological and Intercultural Studies, and a Master of Christian Studies, a 1-year diploma in TESL ministry and a 6-credit summer TESOL Institute. Our TESOL program has been in full operation for 5 years. Faculty Responsibilities 1. Teach a full-time faculty course load in TESOL and Linguistics. 2. Advise and mentor students in the TESOL program. 3. Supervise and direct the ongoing development of the PGS TESOL program. 4. Share other faculty obligations as appropriate. Qualifications 1. The candidate should have completed or have in process an appropriate doctoral program (PhD in TESOL, Linguistics,Language Education). 2. The candidate should have personal experience in teaching English to speakers of other languages. 3. It is preferred that the candidate have experience in intercultural Christian ministry. 4. The candidate must be able to subscribe to the doctrinal statement of Prairie Bible Institute, and to serve comfortably within the corporate culture of that organization.
