First Announcement and Call for Papers INSOLICO' 2000 Sofia, September 22-24, 2000 SEVENTH INTERNATIONAL SOCIOLINGUISTIC CONFERENCE Organized by The International Sociolinguistic Society in Sofia-INSOLISO Special topic BILINGUALISM AND DIGLOSSIA: ACTUALIZED The Seventh International Sociolinguistic Conference will be held in Sofia September 22-24, 2000. The papers are expected to be presented in Bulgarian, English or Russian. Discussion will be held in Bulgarian, English or Russian. Papers - 15 minutes plus discussion. Suggestions for workshops are welcomed. Papers are expected on issues relevant to the special topic, or related to the following areas: Topics of interest 1. Macrosociolinguistics: Sociology of Bilingual and Multilingual Speech Communities. 2. Microsociolinguistics: Bilingualism as Social and Psychological Phenomenon. 3. Diglossia in Various Language Situations. 4. Diachronic Aspects of Bilingualism and Language Contacts. 5. Bilingualism and Diglossia in Former Socialist Countries. THIRD CELTIC LINGUISTICS CONFERENCE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE DUBLIN 12-14 MAY, 2000. Invited Speakers include: Prof. Stephen R. Anderson, Yale University Prof. Jim McCloskey, University of California, Santa Cruz ==================================================================== The Third Celtic Linguistics Conference will be held at University College Dublin, from 12-14 May 2000. In conjunction with Trinity College Dublin, it is probable that a special parasession on the acquisition of Celtic languages will occur in addition to the general conference. (Expressions of interest in the acquisition section would be welcome at the e-mail address below). Abstracts for the general conference (on all aspects of theoretical research on the Celtic languages) are now invited. Please submit 4 copies of an anonymous 1 page abstract for a 45 minute talk (30+15), with an index card indicating name and contact details. An extra page for data may be appended.
