Linguistics/Applied Linguistics Position

The Department of Applied Language Studies at Brock University invites
applications for a limited-term appointment, subject to final
budgetary approval, in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics, effective
July 1, 2000, at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates should
hold the Ph.D. degree (ABD considered) in Linguistics or Applied
Linguistics, with experience teaching in 2 of the following areas:
Introductory Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, or TESL (Teaching English
as a Second Language). The successful candidate is expected to
participate in the academic and administrative activities of the
department.

Ontologists/Knowledge Engineers [4-6 positions available]

Assist in the development and implementation of schema for classifying
and describing items across multiple domains.
Assist in development of automatic classification methods. 
Work with SME's in over 50 industries.
Work with domain experts inside the company.
Undertake ontology "maintenance" procedures.

Education:
Graduate degree or equivalent experience: Linguistics, Computer
