I'm terribly sorry, I incorrectly stated my question. The question should have been -- Does anyone know when syllable-final /l/ _WAS_ velarized in the _HISTORY_ of English? I wrote the question in a hurry, and I apologize to those who were kind enough to respond anyway. I still hope to receive responses to my intended query. Thanks very much. I've got a series of notes I made on 'Baum (1988)' on personal pronouns. I foolishly forgot to note any more bibliographical details. Can anyone on the list help me? Richard Dury Univ. Brescia richardMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issuespm.it
