Muriel Saville-Troike in "The Ethnography of Communication: An 
Introduction," Second Edition 1989, Blackwell, cites a study by Chiu,
Rosaline K. 1972. Measuring Register Characteristics: A Prerequisite for
Preparing Advanced Level TESOL Programs. I would appreciate any help in
locating this study.

Dear all on LINGUIST,

Can someone point me to material (studies, books, 
recent articles etc.) on the sociolinguistic topic language 
and identity please.
I am particularly interested in language and identity in 
relation to German (e.g. Austria, Switzerland, Belgium etc. 
etc.).
- Perhaps someone is currently working on that topic?
