LECTURESHIP IN ENGLISH AND APPLIED LINGUISTICS, tenable from 
15 September 1999.

The British Institute in Paris is an Institute of Advanced Study of 
London University. It teaches English to French students and French to 
British students at all levels, translation to both groups, and trains or 
retrains language teachers.

Candidates must have a doctorate and an active research profile in areas 
relevant to current developments: particularly teacher training in EFL, for 
adults and/or young learners, at certificate and MA levels. The 
appointee will be expected to teach EFL, take part in teacher-training, and 
contribute to the departments research profile in applied linguistics.

Expertise in other areas important to the department (e.g. Distance and 
Self-Access Learning, CALL, English Literature, Translation, Cross-
Cultural Studies) will be taken into account.

The appointment to be made initially on the Lecturer (A) scale. (15, 735

A full professor position in Linguistics is available on April 1, 2000. 
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D in Linguistics, specialized in
preferably either Semantics, Pragmatics, Socio-linguistics. Duties include
teaching English and linguistic courses at both graduate(Masters) and
