Dear linguists, While studying bahuvrihi compounds in English I have dug out some problems. One of them is non-existance of a clear definition and criteria for the phenomenon. In some papers I've found that bahuvrihi and exocentric compounds are the same. Others say that bahuvrihi are used to denot persons, animals (plants) and things only. And what about phenomena? And can they denote only concrete objects or may be abstract as well? I would be very much obliged to all who can clerify the point. Hi, I'am looking for electronic archives of corpora for ROMANIAN first language acquisition (bilingual or not). CHILDES doesn't have them, as to my knowledge. Anybody aware of such corpora can contact me at coeneMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issueuia.ua.ac.be Thanks!
