Dear linguists and friends, at the end of november we sent a query to linguist list. We were looking for a talk-program which is able to record every keystroke of both participants. Besides that, it should work in a local area network behind a firewall on PCs which are running Windows NT 4.0. We are very grateful for all the help we got. A lot of people contacted us and gave us some very useful tips. We were very happy about that. Especially, we would like to thank Celso Alvarez Caccamo, who's advice was the key to solve our problem. And this is what we are going to do: We use a very simple chat-program called Chatzilla, and we record the window with a program called hypercam. Hypercam records a nice little avi-movie from the chat-window (if it is not too big). At the moment we replay the movie with hypercam or the Multimedia-Player of Microsoft, but we hope to find another program, but which is able to replay the movies in slowmotion. Thank you again for your help and we would be happy to discuss our experiences with people working on the same problem.
