Merck Research Laboratories in Rahway, New Jersey, a world leader in
pharmaceutical research, is seeking a creative individual with
excellent interpersonal skills to become a member of their Molecular
Systems Group. The successful candidate should have a strong
background in text processing in a UNIX environment - information
extraction from natural language experience would be preferred.
Proven programming skills in C, C++, and/or Perl are essential.

Responsibilities include the development and/or support of web-based
search tools, document repositories, chemical name recognizers,
chemical knowledge bases, and ancillary text processing utilities.
Some background in chemistry, biology, or scientific programming would
be an asset, but is not mandatory. Candidates should have a B.S. or
M.S. degree in computer science or equivalent.
