University of Reading School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies Research Teaching Studentships Applications are invited for a number of three-year teaching studentships to be held in the School from October 2000. A studentship will offer a stipend of about UKP 6800 per annum, in line with those offered by the ESRC, free PhD registration (at the EU student rate) and a sum of UKP 2400 in return for a maximum of 150 hours' teaching a year. Applicants may have research interests in any of the fields of current research activity in the School: syntax, semantics, pragmatics, phonology; first or second language acquisition, language pathology and clinical lingusitics (including aphasiology); sociolinguistics, discourse analysis; and applied linguistics. Applicants should have either a first degree (first or upper second class honours or equivalent) or an MA in linguistics or closely related field. Successful applicants must be registered for a research degree leading to a PhD. Applications should be made by letter accompanied by a CV and a brief statement of the proposed topic of research.
