FACULTY OF ENGLISH University Lecturer/University Assistant Lecturer (English Language) The Faculty is seeking to appoint, at University Lecturer or Assistant Lecturer level, to a post in the field of English language. The appointment will be effective from 1 October 2000. The successful candidate will be expected to promote the study of the English language in relation to the development of English literature. Applications will be welcomed from candidates whose qualifications and interests refer to the period since 1700, including those working in the field of Commonwealth and International literature in English. Linguists may be interested to receive the further details. Stipend Scales and Terms of Appointment: University Lecturer: �20,811 - �32,095 pa (11 increments) Appointment will be for three years with the possibility of re-appointment to the retiring age. University Assistant Lecturer: �17,238 - �22,579 pa (6 increments) Appointment will be for three years, with the possibility of re-appointment for a further two years. The statutory limit of tenure for an Assistant Lecturer is five years, but all holders of this office are considered for possible appointment to a University Lectureship during their tenure.
